Difference between Web 1.0 & Web 2.0

WEB 1.0
Web 1.0 is the category used to describe the first generation of websites. Many of these websites still exist on the web today for small business, but are hardly noticeable unless you search the exact business name. These are, more or less “Internet Billboards.” They Display static information about a business which doesn’t change often and/or requires a web developer to adjust the code to modify it. These are traditional html based websites that ruled the late 90’s and early 2000’s and they weren’t very beneficial for small businesses, beyond being able to display their contact information. We had to wait until the next generation offered us something truly useful………

WEB 2.0
You may have already heard of this buzz word. Web 2.0 was the next generation of web design that is currently thriving small businesses. What makes 2.0 so different? Interactivity! Web 2.0 is called “dynamic” because it offers interaction between web users and the website, often auto-creating much of the content that is displayed. When you think Web 2.0, think Myspace, Facebook, Amazon, Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and any other website that’s using web technology to it’s fullest advantage.
A Web 2.0 website is crucial for small business these days. You see, there are many important places where a 2.0 style isn’t necessary because interaction isn’t important. However, small business, interaction is everything. To help a small business thrive, people need to be able to find your business and connect with other people that have done business with your company. This is easy to achieve when a customer stops by your location but very hard if they have never heard of your business.
These advanced and interactive “web communities” are an invaluable tool in keeping your business and group connected with new customers online. People can stay connected with updates and contributing to your website. You can do podcasts, blogs, put up a calendar, have people create profiles and much more. The Web 2.0 possibilities are endless…
The beauty of the web is that people can log in and connect when it’s convenient for them…this forms long term connections and makes a stronger bond between you and your customers. Web 2.0 is custom made for small businesses.
